They are fully controllable using the included remote, which allows for single, solid colours, or fade\/strobe effects.\u003cbr\u003eThe white LEDs are powered off the 6.3VAC GI line. They are regulated through a bridge rectifier, enabling the diodes to be powered via DC to prolong their life.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eWhy is this such a big deal?\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe clock lamps in Twilight Zone are interactive GI lamps. At certain modes in the game, the GI will be triggered to start flashing. Having the white LEDs running off the GI line allows for these LEDs to have full interactive flashing within the game, isolated and independent of the state of the RGB LEDs. As the RGB LEDs don’t interact with the GI, an amazing light effect is seen between the flashing white LEDs and the RGB colour changing LEDs.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eWhy nearly all other aftermarket boards fail, or will eventually fail over time.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe original slotted opto part numbers were QVE11233.0086 (S-1865 and S-2187) (5490-12451-00 and 5490-13451-00). These were high gain phototransistors and were designed specifically for Williams by Fairchild Semiconductors (Onsemi). They are long obsolete, and the only replacements made by Vishay, do not meet the exact specs of the original.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn addition, the Optos on the clock board are driven out of spec, as their outputs are placed directly on the switch matrix. Whilst Vishay replacements may work at first, this disastrous recipe will eventually run the optos to the point of self-suicide. They will become flaky, triggering randomly and will need to be replaced.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn order to overcome this, we have redesigned this board using 339 comparators. This takes the triggering of the output of the opto off the matrix, and places it on the open collector of the 339, acting as a trigger in-between the opto and the matrix.
